Glass Museum, Arad

The Glass museum is the Freedman family's dream come true. Gideon Freedman has been a hot glass craftsman since the year 1995. He is a remarkable artist and an exception in his field he is able to create three dimensional sculptures that shift their shape and statement when the viewer circles around it. Gideon wanted to build a home for Israeli glass artists and creates an artistic and educational Israeli center for this wonderful field of glass sculpturing.

In the year 2003 the museum was opened for the general public. In the year 2007 a gallery for varying exhibitions was opened. And with it the society of" glass and anything related to it" and began its activity, the society gathers all of the Israeli glass artists and every couple of months the gallery exhibits varying exhibitions.

Gideon Freedman sculptures with recycled glass by means of templates, combined of solid material and powder, which Gideon invented for his purposes. He works with a stove, that he built and customized for his special work and he finishes with a burner for the finishing touches of the design of the sculpture. He works with various work methods: dropping the glass in the template –"slamping", melting the glass into one- "fusing" (1/2 fusing) and casting.

All of his sculptures are three dimensional. In order to enjoy the work and what it has to offer you need to walk around it surrounding it and looking at it from different perspectives, in most cases there is a one of a kind internal dialog between the sculpture and its observer and each side tells a different and personal story.
