Jerusalem is the Israeli state capital and is the biggest city in Israel. Jerusalem is a holy city to all three religions; Judaism, Christianity and Islam and this is due to its 5000 year history of stories and legacies. Jerusalem's main history revolved around the old city, the same preserved site dating thousands of years back, documents the life it used to be. In the city, you will find four quarters: Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Armenian.
Tour Route
We’ll start our tour with a panoramic view of Jerusalem as seen from atop Mount Olives, overlooking down at the Old City and the Temple Mount. At the Mount's base we will also visit the Church of All Nations in the Garden of Gethsemane, where according to biblical sources the Virgin Mary was buried. The site is also the place where Jesus and his disciples prayed the night prior to his crucifixion.
We then head towards Mount Zion, driving along the Kidron Valley, looking at the monumental burial tombs at Mount Olive’s feet. Upon arriving at Mount Zion we will visit King David’s Tomb and on the upper floor of the same structure we’ll visit the the Hall of the Last Supper. Entering the Old City through the Zion Gate, we move past the Armenian Quarter and walk along the 1500 years old Byzantine Cardo. Walking along the Cardo we head into the Jewish Quarter making our way towards the Western Wall (the Kotel).
We then tour the Stations of the Cross (Via Dolorosa) with our final stop being the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, where Jesus was crucified and, according to religious texts, resurrected three days later. You’re then welcome to enjoy the local bazaars in the Christian and Muslim Quarters and end the tour with a short walk in the New City.
